OPPO announced that it has joined the HEVC Advance patent pool, an independent licensing authority. This participation means that OPPO will obtain a large number of valuable patents required to implement the HEVC/H.265 video compression standard, and will obtain super 13,000 patent implementation licenses.
The HEVC/H.265 provides the next-generation video compression function so that the video can be seamlessly transmitted from mobile phones to computer screens, meeting consumers’ increasing immediate demand for 4K ultra-high-definition video.
OPPO now has 6 research institutes and 4 R&D centers worldwide, and a global design center in London.
