The upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, video conferencing provider Zoom offered a big gift. The company said today that it will lift the 40-minute free meeting time limit.
Generally, a meeting of three or more people hosted by the free version of Zoom cannot exceed 40 minutes. If you want to talk longer, you have to restart the meeting and everyone needs to rejoin.
However, Zoom announced today that on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day, it will remove the 40-minute limit on free accounts worldwide. This means that free users will be able to communicate with relatives and friends without worrying about time constraints.
The Zoom spokesperson said: “Whether it’s gathering together on the last day of Hanukkah to celebrate Christmas, ringing the New Year’s bell, or commemorating the last days of Kwanzaa, those who are in contact with friends and family Will not be cut off.”
In fact, on Thanksgiving last month, Zoom also announced the removal of the 40-minute time limit. Affected by the new crown virus epidemic, the use of Zoom has soared this year. In December of last year, the number of daily conference participants in Zoom was 10 million, but it soared to 200 million in March this year and exceeded 300 million in April.
In addition to Zoom, Google’s video conferencing application Google Meet has also stated that before March next year, free users will not be subject to the 60-minute time limit.
