Adobe recently released Premiere Pro for M1 Mac in Beta, which allows new M1 Mac users to run the video editing software locally. However, the program is still in beta, and Adobe listed many known bugs and missing features in a post announcing its availability.
MacRumors said that Adobe’s Premiere Rush and Audition have also been updated to run on the M1 Mac. Adobe said that it will start migrating Premiere Pro’s features in stages, starting with its core editing functions and workflows and popular codecs (such as H.264/HEVC and ProRes). Third-party integrations need to be updated by their respective developers to work on M1 Mac.
Adobe recommends that users can use the Rosetta 2 emulation to run the current release of Premiere Pro on the M1 Mac while the M1 version is still in development, although some third-party integrations may not work in this mode.
In addition, Premiere Pro has joined other Adobe applications, including Photoshop and Lightroom. Considering that the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini were only released a month ago, this is a relatively fast turnaround time for Adobe.
