Beijing subway trains will use 5G technology to improve train operation efficiency and system reliability

According to the latest news, Beijing Collaborative Innovation Rail Transit Research Institute Co., Ltd. was officially inaugurated. In the future, Beijing will rely on the western section of Metro Line 11 (Winter Olympics branch) to build Beijing’s first smart subway demonstration line and will study 5G-based train-vehicle communication train control systems to improve train operation efficiency and system reliability. The minimum driving interval during peak hours can be increased by more than 10%.

In the initial stage, the Collaborative Innovation Institute plans to build five scientific and technological innovation centers with enterprises as the main body of innovation, intelligent trains, intelligent control, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and big data, and communication networks.

At present, the platform is carrying out collaborative innovation research on the operation control systems, dispatch command, and passenger service, operation maintenance, equipment manufacturing, etc.

The Collaborative Innovation Research Institute will study vehicle-to-vehicle communication train control systems based on 5G technology to improve train operation efficiency and increase the minimum travel interval by more than 10% during peak periods. At the same time, a new intelligent control system for the interior of the vehicle will be built to intelligently adjust the volume, temperature, humidity, and illuminance in the cabin to enhance passengers’ comfort.

In the future, it will also establish a passenger credit system for Beijing Rail Transit, optimize automatic fare collection and security check terminal equipment, and reduce congestion during peak periods and shorten the time for passengers to enter and exit stations through facial recognition and other technologies.
