Developers successfully simulated Nintendo Switch games on Apple M1 Mac
According to a MacRumors report, earlier this week, developer Sera Tonin Brocious said on Twitter that he successfully simulated Nintendo Switch games on Apple’s M1 chip -they ran ” Super Mario Odyssey.
Developers can achieve this through the open-source Yuzu simulator, they use the high-performance 3D graphics API Vulkan. Due to the limitations of MoltenVK, this simulation is not perfect. MoltenVK is a runtime library that maps Vulkan to the Apple Metal framework on macOS and iOS.
The screenshot shows that “Super Mario Odyssey” is running on a 13-inch MacBook Pro equipped with an M1 chip and running macOS 11.0.1. The processors of Nintendo Switch and M1 Mac are based on the Arm architecture.
