A Mac furnished with an M1 processor can already use Windows 10. For such a thing, Microsoft has given affirmation.

Thanks to the latest technology preview of Parallels Desktop 16, you can now run Windows 10 on Mac devices equipped with M1.

Omar Shahine, vice president of products at Microsoft Lists, recently tweeted, praising the technical preview version of Parallels Desktop for Mac for the Apple M1 chip and emphasizing its excellent performance in battery life.

The Parallels engineering team explained: ‘In order to run virtual machines on new Mac computers using Apple’s M1 chip.

The Parallels engineering team created a new virtualization engine that uses Apple’s M1 chip hardware-assisted virtualization and can run in virtual machines.

ARM-based operating system. Due to the significant differences between the x86 and ARM architectures, it is neither possible to run existing virtual machines created on Mac computers with Intel processors, nor to create new virtual machines using x86-based operating systems.

It is worth mentioning that Microsoft has also taken great care in the optimization of the M1 processor, including core applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, and so on. Now all of them can provide native support on the 13-inch M1 MacBook Air/Pro and Mac mini.

Compared with products that can only run after being translated by Rosetta 2, this software not only can fully utilize the chip performance of Apple Silicon but also help improve the battery life of the device.
