Huawei filed a patent with the State Intellectual Property Office of China that was passed on September 22, 2020. It was filed in June 2019 showing the scratch detection and repair process of mobile phone screen glass.
As per the patent description, the repair equipment first detects whether the glass is scratched. If the scratch is on the screen glass, it will be cleaned with alcohol, if the scratch is on the back glass cover, it will be cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner. After that, the machine will drip repair liquid, which consists of 35%-45% acrylate, 50%-60% epoxy resin, 2%-3% initiator, and 2%-3% additives.
After dropping the repairing agent, the machine can automatically cover the transparent film, and use a rubber roller tool to roll on the film to make the repairing liquid evenly covered. Then use 320~420nm ultraviolet light to irradiate and cure to form a resin repair layer.
According to the patent description, the adhesive force of the repair solution on the glass surface should be greater than its adhesive force on the transparent film, so that the resin repair layer will not be damaged when the film is peeled off.
Although the current mobile phone uses high-strength tempered glass, it is still prone to scratches in daily use. Previously, third-party mobile phone repairers used polishing to remove scratches, but this method would completely destroy the screen surface coating.
