Today, Sensor Tower launched the latest report, bringing the 2020 global hot entertainment application list-Douyin and TikTok won the double list champions.
The report pointed out that as of December 15, 2020, the total revenue of the top ten entertainment apps in the App Store and Google Play by global user expenses reached 5.82 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 61.8%.
The top ten entertainment apps by downloads received a total of 2.46 billion downloads, an increase of 22.5% over the same period last year.
In terms of user spending, Douyin and TikTok replaced Netflix with estimated revenue of US$1.26 billion, winning the top spot in the global entertainment apps revenue list, an increase of 590% from last year. Among them, 88.3% of revenue comes from the iOS version of Douyin.
YouTube ranked second on the list with revenue of US$940 million, a year-on-year increase of 63.8%. IT Home learned that the top five other three apps on the list are Tencent Video, Disney +, and iQiyi.
From the perspective of platform distribution, Apple App Store contributed most of the revenue, accounting for as high as 90.5%; Google Play only accounted for 9.5%.
