Intel will release the 11th- generation Core desktop version Core RKL in early 2021

In early 2021, Intel will release the 11th- generation Core desktop version, code-named Rocket Lake-S (RKL for short ). This will be the ultimate battle for the 14nm process.

Compared with the previous Core processors, the RKL generation is released much earlier. At the beginning of each year, Intel routinely releases a mobile version of the processor. It rarely releases a desktop version. Usually, the new version will be announced at the Taipei Computer Show in the middle of the year. The desktop version of the first generation is usually launched in the fall school season.

So 1 January RKL is really ahead, the last time in the 1 released in March desktop or 7 -generation Core Duo, codenamed Kaby Lake, but it is only an interim release, the second half of the year the publishing of 14nm ++ process of Coffee Lake.

According to the latest roadmap, the 11th generation desktop RKL processor is not only the 1 released in March, and 1 Yuefen will be shipping in volume, than originally planned 3-4 ahead at least months 2 months.

The latest news also shows that Intel’s testing of the RKL processor has been completed and performance tuning has begun, which means that this generation of processors has entered the final stage, and there is almost no suspense when it is released in January.

Although the RKL processor is still a 14nm process, the CPU architecture is upgraded to a brand-new ” Cypress Cove”, and the IPC ( instructions per clock cycle ) will increase by two digits, which is more than 10 %, but it is not clear which generation is compared.

The RKL processor has up to 8 cores and 16 threads. The Xe GPU architecture is introduced for the first time on the desktop, supporting DDR4-3200 memory, PCIe 4.0 bus, USB 3.2 Gen.2×2 20Gbps interface, and DLBoost deep learning instruction set.

The package interface continues LGA1200, and at the same time brings a new 500 series chipset, and is backward compatible with at least Z490.
