According to the latest news, MSI released the Optix G242 gaming monitor with the Esports label. This monitor is an upgraded version of Optix G241, with a 23.8-inch IPS panel, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a response time of only 1ms.
This monitor is also designed for a wide color gamut, which can cover 94.6% DCI-P3 color gamut. At the same time, the viewing angle is as high as 178 degrees. Different from the old model, this monitor has NVIDIA G-Sync certification and adds a game mode.
When G-Sync is turned on, the refresh rate of the graphics card and the monitor can be matched, the screen tearing can be eliminated, and smooth and low-latency performance can be obtained. The maximum brightness of the LCD panel is 250nit, the static contrast ratio is 1000:1, and the dynamic contrast ratio is as high as 100000000:1.
The back of the MSI G242 display adopts an asymmetrical design with a large area of brushed lines, which has a more visual impact than the previous generation. The small red dot on the back of the display is a 5-dimensional navigation button used to set the menu, the same as the previous generation. The monitor stands supports-5°~20° tilt adjustment. In terms of interfaces, the display provides a DP 1.2a and two HDMI 1.4 interfaces, plus a 3.5mm audio jack and a DC power jack.
According to the description, this monitor is equipped with Night Vision mode, which can automatically adjust the brightness of dark scenes in the game without losing details. At the same time, the built-in game mode can be optimized for different purposes such as FPS, racing, RTS, graphic design, and movies. The display is certified by TÜV Rheinland, has no flicker, low blue light, and protects the eyesight of users during long-term use.
The MSI Optix G242 gaming monitor has not yet been officially sold. The previous G241 monitor currently costs 1,049 yuan($160) and only supports FreeSync technology.
