According to a report, BMW CEO Oliver Zipse said that by 2023, 20% of cars will be electrified. Zips stated that BMW hopes that by 2023, one-fifth of the cars it sells will have electric engines.

Given that electric vehicle accounted for only 8% of BMW’s sales in 2020, this means that the company’s electric vehicle sales have increased by 150% in just 36 months.

Additionally, Zips also stated that BMW plans to increase the production of electric vehicles. Between 2021 and 2023, the company will produce 250,000 more electric vehicles than originally planned.

As per the previous report, BMW will double its electric vehicle sales from 2019 to 2021. By 2023, the company will have 25 electric vehicles coming out. Of these 25 models, more than half will be fully electric. Currently, BMW’s electric vehicles include iX3, i4, text, and Mini Cooper SE.

In July of this year, BMW stated that its electric cars will use batteries produced from renewable energy sources. With the increase in BMW’s electric vehicle production, the use of green energy will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 10 million tons in the next 10 years.
