4G investment is frozen, the 4G network can still be used, 5G development still takes 3-4 years
At present, the four major operators are actively developing 5G, but it will take time for ordinary consumers to upgrade to 5G.
China Telecom stated that it will still take 3-4 years from 4G to 5G. At the parallel sub-forum of China Urban Digital Economy Forum·2020, Chen Zhihong, deputy general manager of China Telecom Shanghai, stated that the three operators have basically frozen 4G network investment, and new investment may be invested in 5G.
Chen Zhihong mentioned that when switching from 4G to 5G, the replacement cycle is getting longer and longer. Basically, ordinary people only change their mobile phones in about 30 months.
It will take at least 3 to 4 years before we can change the 4G mobile phones that users have to 5G. After the 4G investment is frozen, the 4G network can still be used.
Chen Zhihong said that within 5 years, the 4G network will not be withdrawn, and there will be no big blind spots. Users can rest assured to use 4G and 5G.
Not long ago, Wen Ku, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said in an interview that our goal set at the beginning of the year is that all prefectures and cities have 5G coverage. 330,000 5G base stations were built and shared.
From January to November this year, 5G mobile phone shipments in the domestic market reached 144 million units, accounting for 51.4% of the overall share, and the number of 5G terminal connections has exceeded 200 million.
