In recent years, as SUVs have become popular all over the world, many supercar manufacturers including Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, etc. have staged the ‘True Fragrance Law’ and released or announced plans for SUV models.
Despite this, there are some supercar manufacturers who sneer at SUVs, and McLaren is one of them.
As per the previous report, McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt (Mike Flewitt) made it clear in an interview with the media that he would not plan SUV production during his tenure.
The current production of hybrid models is only due to the requirements of exhaust emission regulations.
In sharp contrast with competing products such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Lamborghini, McLaren has always adhered to the concept of producing sports cars and super sports cars.
As per Flewitt, ‘Our philosophy has always been very loyal to the manufacture of super sports cars.
When asked if there will be an SUV or an electric sports car, he made it clear: ‘The answer is no, we have no plans.’
It is worth mentioning that as early as 2018, relevant McLaren executives also stated in interviews that SUVs are neither sporty nor practical.
SUVs will damage the brand image unless other models are not profitable. Ability, otherwise would not consider SUV.
Additionally, Flewitt also mentioned that every new car produced by McLaren in 2022 or after 2023 may be a hybrid model.
