Samsung announced the launch of the latest cooperation plan with IBM, focusing on the development of edge computing, 5G, and hybrid cloud solutions, assisting various industries in the transformation of modern operations and realizing the vision of Industry 4.0.
Through this cooperation, Samsung and IBM will provide enterprises with new mobile edge computing and end-to-end private 5G network solutions that operate with an open architecture, and enable employees to exert their productivity through Samsung Galaxy 5G devices.
This cooperation will use Samsung’s industry-leading Galaxy 5G mobile devices, advanced end-to-end enterprise network solutions, combined with IBM’s network management, hybrid cloud, edge computing products, network expertise, AI industry solutions, and Red Hat Open architecture.
Samsung and IBM also plan to cooperate with global telecommunications companies to help companies inject the huge power of 5G into public and private networks. Earlier this year Samsung announced that it would promote a project with IBM, Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Agency and telecom company M1 to jointly demonstrate the technological progress of smart factories, including 5G artificial intelligence analysis and augmented reality functions. The two giants will continue to enrich the mobile experience of users and open up new business opportunities for enterprises.
Private 5G network helps maximize performance
Samsung and IBM also intend to help companies use the power of 5G to increase productivity and unlock new business opportunities. To this end, the two parties plan to integrate Samsung’s latest 5G end-to-end solutions, including diversified indoor and outdoor products covering mid-band ( C-Band, CBRS and local 5G spectrum) and millimeter wave (mmWave), as well as cloud and free There are server solutions, combined with IBM including edge platform, network management capabilities, integrated consulting services, and artificial intelligence solutions and other open hybrid cloud technologies.
Promote technological innovation to meet Industry 4.0
Samsung, IBM, and Red Hat’s cooperation plan will provide AI solutions for Industry 4.0 and the future with the help of 5G devices, cloud-native 5G networks, and advanced edge computing platforms.
Specifically, the two parties plan to explore the interoperability and integration between Samsung’s software and hardware and IBM Edge Application Manager running on Red Hat OpenShift and its AI technology, so as to manage industry-scale computing tasks through Samsung mobile devices.
Join forces to drive change
The cooperation declaration issued this time is a new milestone in the long-term global strategic relationship between Samsung and IBM. The two parties will assist global enterprises in their operational transformation through action, AI, and 5G solutions. Over the past few decades, the two parties have worked together to implement many projects, including AI and mobile solutions, to help governments and enterprises successfully transform. Recently, the two parties have cooperated in the new generation of 5G and edge computing through IBM Cloud for Telecommunications.
