Toyota Prado may debut in the second half of 2022, which uses TNGA architecture hybrid on the car

As a hardcore SUV under Toyota, Prado has always been a ‘sacred car’. Off-road performance is strong, easy to drive, and not easy to break characteristics have always been the reason for its popularity.

However, due to the arrival of National VI emissions, the domestically produced Toyota Prado was officially discontinued in June this year, and the parallel imported Prado did not meet the National VI standards, which also made many potential users have to give up this car.

As per the previous report, the new generation of Toyota Prado may debut in the second half of 2022.

It will be built on the TNGA-F platform, and it will provide a 2.5L gasoline engine + electric motor hybrid powertrain for selection.

Among them, the 2.5L direct-injection four-cylinder engine has a maximum power of 205 horsepower and a peak torque of 250 N·m.

It is matched with E-FOUR four-wheel drive. The fuel consumption per 100 kilometers is 8.7L. The estimated price is 3.5-4.4 million yen (about 23-29 million yuan).

The diesel version is equipped with a 2.8T turbocharged engine, with a maximum power of 177 horsepower, peak torque of 450 Nm, and fuel consumption of 8.3L per 100 kilometers, which is expected to be between 4 and 5.5 million yen (2.6-36 million yuan).

As the ‘little brother’ of Land Cruiser, the new generation of Prado will also be built on the TNGA-F platform, and the non-carrying body will still be retained.

The other biggest advantage of the TNGA architecture is the configuration, and the new Prado will keep up with the times and add some electronic auxiliary configurations.

At the same time, the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 system will be standard for all systems, including active braking, adaptive cruise, lane departure warning, Adaptive high beam, and other configurations.

The fourth-generation Prado currently on sale overseas was launched in 2009 and has a history of more than 10 years. The new generation model is expected to be released in 2022 at the earliest.
