According to Chinese media reports, after India banned many Chinese apps, Chinese mobile phones are still favored by Indian consumers.
Local market data show that in October this year, the sales of Chinese mobile phones in India increased by 1.7 million units over the same period last year.
The report quoted the Indian media ThePrint as saying that IDC data shows that the Indian smartphone market in October this year increased by 42% compared with the same period last year, with total shipments reaching 21 million units.
IDC stated that this benefited from multiple online shopping festivals in the third quarter of this year and cumulative demand.
Four of the five mobile phone brands with the largest online sales in India are Chinese brands, namely Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, and OPPO, ranking first, third, fourth, and fifth respectively, and Samsung is the second.
The four companies sold approximately 4.6 million mobile phones in October last year. The sales volume in October this year was 6.3 million units.
According to a report on India’s smartphone shipments in the third quarter of 2020 released by market research agency Canalys, smartphone shipments in the Indian market in the third quarter increased by 8% to 50 million units.
This is the highest ever record of smartphone shipments in a single season in India.
Among them, Xiaomi is still the market leader with an increase of 9% and shipments of 13.1 million units. Samsung regained second place from Vivo, with 10.2 million sales, an increase of 7%.
Vivo ranked third with shipments increasing 19% to 8.8 million units, while Realme followed closely with 8.7 million units. OPPO shipped 6.1 million units, ranking fifth.
