According to the latest news, Apple will use 120Hz LTPO display technology on the high-end iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Due to the cooperation with Apple, Apple’s Korean display suppliers are expected to grow in 2021, which may bring higher revenue.
Four iPhone 13 models are expected to arrive in 2021:
- iPhone 13 mini-5.4 inch 60Hz LTPS OLED
- iPhone 13-6.1-inch 60Hz LTPS OLED
- iPhone 13 Pro-6.1-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED
- iPhone 13 Pro Max-6.7-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED
The report mentioned that Apple may encounter an increase in supply prices, but it has not yet confirmed whether the company will absorb these costs or pass them on to customers in the form of price increases. The advantage of LTPO technology on smartphones is that it dynamically switches between 1Hz and 120Hz according to the type of content displayed.
Samsung and LG will be responsible for supplying these OLED screens, but BOE was not mentioned. Earlier, it was reported that the Chinese display manufacturer will begin shipping OLED panels for the iPhone 12 series, and will also equip a dedicated production line for the iPhone 13 series in the first half of 2021.
An industry insider said that due to strong iPhone sales, it has high hopes for next year’s models and there should not be any production delays. This means that iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max will go on sale in September of next year instead of October.
