OnePlus may launch a $40 fitness band that can compete with Xiaomi Mi Band 5
Earlier, OnePlus has confirmed that it is developing a Wear OS smartwatch that is expected to be released in 2021. However, the latest report from Android Central stated that the company also plans to release a fitness bracelet for the entry-level market segment in the first quarter of next year. Its price may be 40 US dollars (about 260 RMB), which is expected to compete more directly with Mi Band 5.
With reference to the company’s smartphone product line division, the legendary OnePlus Band smart bracelet is also expected to adopt a market strategy similar to the OnePlus Nord series smartphone, mainly for price-sensitive entry-level users.
In terms of functions, it is said that the OnePlus Band has many similarities with Xiaomi Mi Band 5, including waterproof, AM OLED screen, long-lasting battery life, and is expected to debut in the Indian market.
Android Central speculates that the retail price of the OnePlus Band will be less than 3000 rupees ($40 US dollars / 260 RMB). As a reference, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is priced at 2499 rupees ($33 US dollars / 215 RMB).
Prior to this, OnePlus had exclusively sold new smart TV products in the Indian market, and the local area contributed 1/3 of global smartphone sales. Based on this, it is not surprising that the OnePlus Band smart bracelet has arrived.
If all goes well, we are expected to see the OnePlus Band smart bracelet at the OnePlus 9 series smartphone conference in the first quarter of 2021 (probably from January to February).
