Tesla announced that the world’s largest supercharger station, the Shanghai Jing’an International Center supercharger station with 72 piles, was officially launched. As a result, the number of supercharging piles in mainland China exceeded 5,000.
According to official data, Tesla has built 75 supercharging stations and 48 destination charging stations in Shanghai so far. The world’s largest supercharging station and the first V3 supercharging station in Asia are also located in Shanghai.
In early 2020, Tesla started a large-scale supercharger station construction plan in China. According to the latest official data, as of the end of 2020, Tesla has built more than 620 superchargers in China, with more than 710 destination charging stations, the charging network covers more than 290 cities, and the construction of 5,000 superchargers in mainland China Pile, with the support of Tesla’s charging network, users can complete ultra-long distance self-driving from Shanghai to Beijing, Harbin to Hainan, and Beijing to Sanya.
In September and December this year, Tesla opened the “Sichuan-Tibet Line” charging route from Chengdu to Lhasa and the Chinese section of the “Silk Road” from Xi’an to Urumqi.
In addition, Tesla is also investing in the construction of a supercharging pile factory in Shanghai that integrates R&D and production. It plans to officially put it into production in the first quarter of 2021. The initial plan is to produce 10,000 supercharging piles per year.
