Verizon brings new secondary screen features to LG Wing rotating screen smartphone

Posted on

LG can always bring consumers “unconventional” smartphone designs, such as the LG Wing rotary screen smartphone released earlier this year. Through 90° rotation, the machine can realize some special operations on the secondary screen, such as navigation, media control, and text input. The latest news is that US operator Verizon will also bring a new experience to LG Wing.

Due to the special design of LG Wing, the compatibility support of certain standard functions is also very limited and not consistent.

Although the new firmware by Verizon cannot greatly expand the number of LG Wing secondary screen applications, it can at least make the App experience easier, especially the operation of switching between the two screens.

The report pointed out that because some unofficial apps may freeze when the screen is switched, LG has specially placed a “restart App” button in the lower right corner.

In addition, this update will also bring some new features to users, such as the built-in QR code scanning function in the Camera App, and improved compatibility of media controls on the secondary screen.

What’s changing:

This software update includes fundamental application updates and the latest Android security patches.

  • Second screen – Home screen Update
  • App/widget/folder names are now displayed on the second Home Screen.
  • Second screen – Show app on different screen
  • Camera – Scan QR code
  • Setup Wizard screen for Wi-Fi
  • Idle State Icon Color Update
  • Wallpaper
  • Camera – Quick Preview Bubble Guide

Finally, although this late-December update only includes the November 2020 Android security patch, we are not too far away from the January 2021 update.

Before you download:

  • Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network, or make sure it has a strong Verizon Wireless network connection.
  • Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update.
