Navitas Semiconductor is expected to receive orders from Apple this year for fast charging solutions based on gallium nitride, according to Taiwanese industry publication DigiTimes.
The source says Apple’s chipmaker TSMC will supply GaN chips to Navitas. Supply chain sources confirm that Apple plans to release smaller and lighter chargers that outperform traditional adapters in many ways.
Recently, all large manufacturers have been producing chargers based on gallium nitride. In general, such chargers are characterized by increased efficiency, low heat generation, high power, and small dimensions.
Recall that Apple no longer includes chargers in boxes with new iPhone smartphones and Apple Watch smartwatches, but continues to sell various power supplies separately.
