According to the report, Unicorn began to produce 100W GaN-on-Si chips and is supposed to produce corresponding products for Apple this year.
Of course, Apple’s GaN charger is most likely to be used in Mac series computers instead of mobile phones.
As per the news, Xiaomi released 65W GaN Type-C fast charging heads in the first half of 2020, while Lenovo, Anker, Aukey, and Baseus also launched 60-65W GaN products in the second half of the year.
In this regard, industry sources stated that Navitas is supposed to receive orders from Apple and other suppliers in 2021, and TSMC will also provide GaN-on-Si chips for this.
In fact, Navitas first released the GaN fast charging solution that is the fast charging technology used by brands such as Xiaomi and Aukey.
Apple can use Navitas’ technology to help increase the size and power of its own chargers, up to 300W.
Well-known, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Guo also said last month that Apple expects to release 2 or 3 new chargers in 2021.
According to Apple’s usual rules, these products are likely to be more powerful than the current chargers, such as using GaN technology to achieve faster power.
