As a Chinese leader in the field of new energy, BYD is the world’s first car company to mass-produce plug-in hybrid models. The current BYD DM hybrid has improved to the third generation and is still being updated.
At the 2020 Guangzhou Auto Show, BYD released a new model based on the new DM-i platform-Qin PLUS. Lately, we learned from BYD officials that the car will start pre-sale in early January this year.
As an A+ car, Qin PLUS has a length and width of 4765/1837/1495mm and a wheelbase of 2718mm. At the same time, the appearance design similar to the slip-back looks very sporty, and the ‘DragonForce’ on the front face is still online.
BYD said that the DM-i super hybrid technology is the core weapon of Qin PLUS. It is reported that the new car will be furnished with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5L Xiaoyun-plug-in hybrid engine + electric motor.
Among them, the thermal efficiency of the 1.5L engine reached an astonishing 43%, surpassing Toyota and the highest mass-produced engine in the world.
Without an electric drive, the engine fuel consumption is 3.8L/100km. At the same time, the minimum declared value of fuel consumption by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is only 0.7L/100km.
It is matched with BYD’s newly developed lithium iron phosphate blade battery. It is reported that the purely electric cruising range of the car has reached 120km, and the comprehensive cruising range is more than 1,000 kilometers.
As per the report, Qin PLUS is supposed to be priced in the range of 13-16 million yuan. For reference, the price range of the cash Qin Pro DM is 13.69-20.49 million.
