Microsoft GitHub released the 2020 annual report: Number of developers exceeded 56 million
GitHub released the 2020 annual report ‘The 2020 State of the October’, which counts the operating data from October 2019 to September 2020.
The report shows that from October 2019 to September 2020, the number of developers on Github exceeded 56 million.
72% of Fortune 50 companies were using Github. Over 60 million new projects were created; more than 1.9 billion Contributions are added.
In terms of the geographic distribution of active users, North American users are the most (34%), but compared to last year, North American users have decreased by 2%. Asia is the second (30.7%), and Asian users have increased by 1.1%.
In terms of programming languages, JavaScript still maintains its leading position; Python has continued to maintain its No. 2 positions in 2020 since it surpassed Java in 2019.
It is worth noting that TypeScript has grown strongly in 2020, rising from 7th place in 2019 to the 4th place.PHP has declined, dropping from the 4th place to 6th place.
TypeScript is an open-source, cross-platform programming language developed by Microsoft.
