As per the report, on December 29, 2020, Microsoft submitted a trademark application for ‘Xbox Series XS’.
The trademark is very similar to the details of the Xbox Series X trademark application on the same website, but it is not really clear whether this is the name of a new game console, service, or something else.
It may be a new game console, but such a name will cause greater confusion among consumers because it is difficult for them to distinguish the difference between Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
It is more likely that Microsoft is presently covering up their starting point to prevent other groups from using the phrase.
Another possibility, and a very meaningful possibility, is that these phrases are registered as trademarks so that they can be used as descriptions when referring to video games or accessories designed for Xbox Series X and box Series S consoles.
Microsoft has previously used ‘Xbox Series X|S’ when describing some video games, and this term is basically the same.
Strangely, the same website also showed a new ‘Xbox Series S’ trademark application, which was applied for on the same day as the ‘Xbox Series XS’ trademark.
The Xbox Series S game console has apparently been released, which makes the application look very strange. In this matter, Microsoft only added the ‘I’ and ‘T’ to prevent any legal disputes with competitors in the future.
