As BYD’s ‘Dynasty’ flagship SUV model, Tang’s market performance has been great, especially after the introduction of blade batteries that has attracted consumers’ attention.
Recently, BYD officially announced that BYD Tang DM-i will be pre-sold in early January. Different from the Tang DM’s pursuit of acceleration and four-wheel drive off-road performance, the Tang DM-i furnished with a super hybrid system maximizes fuel economy and meets the needs of users for energy saving.
Judging from the official image released, the appearance of the new car has not changed much. It still uses the iconic Dargon Face Longyan family design, which is visually quite domineering. It is supposed that the new car’s interior will also be consistent with the current Tang. As a main energy-saving SUV, Tang DM-i’s biggest highlight is power.
It is reported that the new car will be equipped with BYD’s self-developed Xiaoyun-plug-in hybrid turbocharged 1.5Ti high-efficiency engine and EHS electric hybrid system powertrain, with two pure electric endurance versions of 52km and 112km.
Among them, under power-deficient conditions, the fuel consumption of the 52km version is as low as 5.3L/100km, the fuel consumption of the 112km version is as low as 5.5L/100km, and the acceleration per 100km is 8.5s.
Although it is not as good as Tang DM, it has a complete acceleration over the 2.0T model of the same level, which is a perfect combination of performance and energy saving.
It is worth mentioning that Tang DM-i will also be equipped with a dedicated blade battery for DM-i super hybrid, with a comprehensive cruising range of up to 1050km.
There is no doubt that with the addition of the Tang DM-i, the 2021 Tang DM will set a benchmark for energy saving of 5.3 liters above the 4.3-second performance benchmark, which will pose a direct threat to the joint venture model and is worth looking forward to.
