General Motors launched a new company logo on Friday, which is fifth major redesign

General Motors announced a new company logo on Friday that is the fifth major redesign of its logo since the Detroit automaker was founded in 1908.

General Motors Chief Marketing Officer Deborah Wahl stated that the new logo features a lowercase letter ‘gm’ as the company’s acronym, and the ‘m’ has an underscore to pay tribute to its Ultium battery platform, which will become the basis of the new electric car, the blue letters are in a round box of the same color.

This change occurred after Wall Street asked General Motors to spin off its electric vehicle business last year. The company stated it had analyzed and decided to oppose the spin-off.

Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas earlier suggested that General Motors change its name to better represent the company’s future plans. The company’s plans include investing $27 billion in electric and autonomous vehicles by 2025.

In automobiles, 30 new electric vehicles have been released worldwide. ‘I really believe that we are at an inflection point for electric vehicles,’ Wahl said at a media conference on Friday.

‘Today, creating a call to action and showing how they plan to lead by inviting everyone to join. In the future, hope to trigger a large-scale electric vehicle adoption movement.’

However, GM’s first electric car on the next-generation Ultium platform is not available to everyone in terms of price. The first car is a GMC Hummer electric car priced at $112,600, followed by a luxury Cadillac crossover named Lyriq.

It is supposed that lower-priced vehicles will appear in the next few years. GM currently offers the Chevrolet Bolt electric car at a price of less than $40,000, but this does not have GM’s Ultrium technology.

General Motors is one of the companies that has recently changed the corporate logo of more and more large companies. Other companies include Kia Motors, Rite Aid, Burger King, and Pfizer.
