Nintendo’s new Switch specification leaked: New chip supports HDMI 4K output

The new device, code-named Aula, will be upgraded to a new OLED screen. A whistleblower released multiple news on January 10, revealing the detailed specification of the new generation of Switch models.

The whistleblower discovered the details of the new hardware by analyzing the latest Switch system update files. The code name of the new equipment is Aula, and the design code is nx-abcc. For comparison, the Switch Lite code is nx-abcc. The HDMI interface chip of this device is upgraded to Realtek RTD2173.

The same as the previous news, the new version of the display will use OLED or Mini LED technology and be supplied by a new manufacturer. The processor of the device uses the same TegraX1+ as the old version. It is worth noting that the DRAM memory of the new device will be upgraded to a 10nm process chip, but the memory capacity information is not displayed. The whistleblower said that this means that the new version of Switch may be the same as the old version. Use 4GB LPDDR4X.

According to the leaked information, by consulting the technical documentation of the HDMI chip RTD2173 and the information of the Switch system update file, it can be expected that the new version of the device codenamed “Aula” will support HDMI output 4K video signals, but the host display will not use 4K resolution rate.

Another whistleblower stated that the heat dissipation system of the new version of Switch will also be improved in order to release performance.
