Sony launches new wireless speakers with 360 Reality Audio at CES 2021

Sony has announced two new 360-degree loudspeakers at this year’s CES electronics fair. It is a mid-range speaker and a high-end device with an integrated calibration function. Both models should be available from February 2021.

According to a recent report, the new devices are listed under the names SRS-RA3000 and SRS-RA5000. The loudspeakers are equipped with a technology developed by Sony that enables the entire room to be covered.

Inside the two devices, you can find several individual loudspeakers pointing in different directions. The Sony RA5000 has a high-resolution audio certification.

Both the SRS-RA3000 and the SRS-RA5000 have WLAN, Bluetooth, and NFC. The speakers are also compatible with Spotify Connect and the Google Assistant as well as Alexa. The devices can be controlled using a smartphone app. The two models also offer multi-room support. This makes it possible to play the same content over several speakers at the same time.

After the two 360-degree loudspeakers were brought onto the market, Sony would like to license its “360 Reality Audio” technology to other manufacturers. Which companies are involved is still unclear and should be announced in the near future.

While the Sony SRS-RA3000 can be purchased in Germany for 359 euros, the high-end model Sony SRS-RA5000 costs 599 euros. Both devices can now be pre-ordered and should then be delivered from next month.
