The DisplayPort 2.0 video transmission standard was launched in 2019, and the first product was previously planned to be released at the end of 2020. But there is no display device equipped with a DP 2.0 interface.
According to the news, the issuing body of the standard, the main reason for the delay of the plan was the pandemic of the new crown virus, which prevented discussions and experiments among engineers and developers of the association.
Plans to hold its first PlugTest event this spring, and it is supposed to see the first outcome with a DP2.0 interface at the end of 2021. In fact, there are already displays with DP 2.0 interface under development.
The DisplayPort 2.0 standard also uses the Type-C interface and plans to be compatible with the USB 4.0 protocol. The theoretical bandwidth of the DisplayPort 2.0 standard can reach 80 GBP s, and the actual data transmission bandwidth can reach 77.4Gbps.
This is almost three times the current DP 1.4 protocol. This specification supports up to a single 16K (15360×8460) resolution display, running in 30Hz, 30 bpp, 4:4:4 HDR mode, and also supports the connection of two 4K 144Hz displays.
