As per the report, electric car producer Tesla released a vehicle safety report for the fourth quarter of 2020. The report shows that in the quarter, the company’s Autopilot (automatic driving assistance system) once again made cars safer.

The report explains that in the fourth quarter, in the driving activities that Autopilot participated in, an average of 3.45 million miles (approximately 5.55 million kilometers) of driving mileage was reported as a traffic accident.

In the absence of Autopilot, there is an active safety function. In the driving activities involved, an average traffic accident was reported for every 2.05 million miles (approximately 3.3 million kilometers).

In driving activities without Autopilot automatic assisted driving and active safety features, an average of 1.27 million miles (approximately 2.04 million kilometers) was reported. 10,000 kilometers) reported a traffic accident.

Generally speaking, Tesla’s survey results in the fourth quarter of 2020 are worse than those in the first three quarters of 2020.

Additionally, the latest data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that an average collision occurs for every 484,000 miles (about 780,000 kilometers) in the United States.

The above data highlights the huge difference in safety between Tesla Motors and other automakers. In other words, Tesla vehicles with the Autopilot system are much safer than other vehicles on American roads.

Currently, Tesla’s Autopilot is only partially automated. Unlike Autopilot, fully automated driving (FSD) technology can achieve ‘zero-intervention.’

Currently, Tesla has released a completely automated driving test version of software to some customers, which can provide completely automated driving capabilities for all models of the company.

In December 2020, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the company will launch a completely automated driving subscription service in early 2021.
