Canon announced shooting images small satellite: Equipped with its EOS 5D Mark III camera at CES 2021

According to the news, Canon declared the shooting images of the CE-SAT-1 small satellite furnished with its EOS 5D Mark III camera at CES 2021 and release a dedicated website to display the satellite shooting results.

The user can browse the shooting screen of this satellite on the website, and freely zoom to save the screenshot. The CE-SAT-1 satellite measures only 50×50×70cm and weighs 50kg. It was developed by AxelSpace.

This satellite is furnished with a 40cm-aperture reflecting telescope with a focal length of 3720cm. The camera is Canon EOS 5D Mark III. This camera shoots the ground from an orbit of 500-600km, with a resolution of 1m, and a picture covering the ground of 6km×4km.

The satellite was successfully launched in June 2017 and has now acquired pictures of New York, San Jose, Black Rock, Bahamas, Antarctica, Venice, Dubai, and nearby Japan. Users visiting this website can select different geographic locations on the map, zoom with the mouse wheel, and then click to simulate a photo.
