Kaiyin launched C9 portable headphone amplifier: Equipped with a front end with a pre-output function

The Chinese HiFi product producer Cayin has officially launched its flagship portable amp C9. Due to the huge volume of this product, it is officially called a ‘mobile headphone power amplifier.’

The biggest feature of C9 is the built-in transistor/electronic tube two sets of amplification systems, and uses four SONY 18650 lithium batteries for direct power supply, omitting part of the switching power supply boost circuit, and lower noise.

The product supports balanced, single-ended input and output, with a 4.4mm balanced port. The user can freely switch the four combinations of balanced/single-ended input and balanced/single-ended output.

Along with that, the MCU will detect each interface and automatically disconnect the circuit when there is no output or enter the standby mode.C9 has a unique Pre IN function. In this mode, C9 can be turned into a pure back-end headphone amplifier, and the volume value is fixed and cannot be adjusted.

This is suitable for users who are pursuing high sound quality and need to be equipped with a front end with a pre-output function such as Cayin N6 II.

The electronic tube assembly of Kaiyin C9 is custom-designed, not a traditional cylindrical glass tube. Officials said that through circuit design, the total harmonic distortion can be reduced to 0.03%, while the traditional electronic tube is basically more than 3%.

Such a design can ensure good quality, good transient response, and improved sound field positioning and details.

By looking at volume control, C9 adopts an analog + digital dual control scheme. The volume value is collected by the Japanese ALPS potentiometer and adjusted by the Japanese MUSES 72320 four-channel volume control chip.

This can not only ensure the hand feels but also solve the problem of imbalance and loss of the analog potentiometer. Kaiyin C9 is powered by four precision-matched Sony low-resistance 18650 lithium batteries.

It outputs positive and negative power to the amp circuit, combined with large-capacity decoupling capacitors to ensure fast response and low noise. Product audio parameters are as follows:Kaiyin C9 has been declared as early as 2020, and it was not officially launched until recently.

The head of Kaiyin Cayin Bulb Liang stated that due to the pandemic, the supply of raw materials for this product was difficult. It was not until recently that the import clearance of C9’s ALPS potentiometer from Hong Kong, China was completed, which meant that this product was eligible for official release.

Kaiyin C9 is scheduled to go on sale on January 20, and the prototype has been sent to distributors in various places today, and the product price is 12,999 yuan.
