Android 12 may allow unused apps to be hibernated like iOS to free up storage space

The first DP developer preview version of Android 12 is supposed to debut next month. Through digging the AOSP code base, the outside world has discovered some clues about new features.

The first is split-screen multitasking. The current Android 11 split screen needs to be activated in the multitasking interface. After selecting an APP, select another APP.

However, Android 12 is supposed to introduce the ‘APP Pairs’ function that permits common split-screen tasks to be grouped to achieve one-click opening.

Frankly speaking, the above features have already been implemented on Samsung Android phones and some domestic phones. Then there is Wi-Fi password sharing.

The QR code sharing on Android 10 is no longer needed but integrated with the ‘Nearby Devices’ function that can be directly exchanged with each other.

The last is the improvement of the game external controller. The new API function is more complete, which permits the external controller to have more personalized customization in terms of vibration and tactile feedback.
