Apple iPad Mini 6 high-definition renderings leaked: Using under-screen Touch ID

Apple’s smallest tablet computer is about to be redesigned. The screen frame of the iPad Mini 6 will be greatly decreased. It is stated that the display can be extended to more than 9 inches, becoming almost edge-to-edge.

Recently a well-known tipster shared the CAD drawings of the iPad mini in 2021 including the Italian website Pigtou and made a rendering. According to reports, the iPad Mini 6 has a screen of 195mm×126.6mm that is about 9.15 inches, which is a significant increase from the current 7.9 inches.

Last year, a reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the company is preparing to release a tablet computer between 8.5-9 inches in the first half of 2021.

As per the report, the entire device is 8.0 inches high, 5.3 inches wide, and 0.24 inches thick (203.2 mm × 134.8 mm × 6.25 mm). This is almost exactly the same size as the current iPad mini, but a bit thicker. And it will not have flat edges like Pro but will retain curved edges.

If this unconfirmed revelation is true, then Apple’s small-screen tablet is going through the same process as many large-size tablets. The 2020 iPad Air has reduced the bezel to increase the screen size.

In 2018, the bezel of the iPad Pro series was reduced to disgrace the size of the entire device, while the screen size remained unchanged.

In 2021, the edge-to-edge screen of the iPad mini leaves no room for the Home button. Apple is said to be replacing it with in-screen fingerprints. It is said that the company is also considering equipping the iPhone 13 with in-screen fingerprints.

Additionally, the rendering also shows that this small tablet has a punch-hole camera. It is not clear when the 2021 iPad mini will be unveiled, and it is supposed to be released together with the new iPad Pro launched in March.
