TSMC, which is at the forefront of the industry in terms of chip process technology, has received foundry orders from many chip producers such as Apple and AMD, and their revenue has also grown for many years.
Due to the leading chip process technology, more producers are seeking support for TSMC’s production capacity. The latest report that Nvidia and Qualcomm are seeking to obtain TSMC’s next-generation chip process technology production support.
With the 5nm process in mass production last year, the next-generation process mentioned in the media report should be the 3nm process that TSMC is developing and preparing for mass production.
In recent quarterly earnings analyst conference calls, TSMC CEO Wei Zhejia talked about the 3nm process. He said that it is progressing smoothly and plans to risk trial production this year and mass production in the second half of 2022.
It is worth noting that in the report in September last year, foreign media mentioned that TSMC has prepared a total of 4 waves of production capacity for the 3nm process. Most of the first wave of production capacity is reserved for the large customer Apple for many years, and the next 3 waves will be Reservations from Qualcomm, Xilinx, Nvidia, AMD and other vendors.
