January 2021 security update starts to rollout for Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+

Samsung has begun to roll out a new security update for Galaxy S9 and S9+. This update installs the January 2021 security patch for better device security as well as fixes some bugs for a better user experience.

Although, the OEM promised to release security updates for the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 regularly until 4 years after the release date. In order to fulfill its promise, Samsung has launched the latest security updates for Galaxy S9 and Note 9.

Now, Verizon restricts Galaxy S9 phones from obtaining new security patches in the United States.

Samsung’s various devices have begun to get One UI 3.0 / One UI 3.1 updates based on Android 11. However, Galaxy S9 and Note 9 models are not eligible for this major platform update, because they have completed the Android upgrade life cycle.
