Apple faces litigation in Europe due to iPhone 6 series ‘battery’ dispute
As per the news, Apple’s ‘throttling’ argument even had legal consequences a few years later. Consumer advocates have filed lawsuits in several European countries. Serious allegations still exist fraud against customers.
In March 2020, Apple agreed to a settlement in the United States: The company will pay $500 million in compensation to customers whose iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 models are restricted.
In 2017, users discovered that iOS will quietly limit CPU performance as battery life increases. Four years after the iPhone 6 was released, the ‘battery’ scandal is indeed accelerating in the European Union.
In December 2020, Euro consumers filed a lawsuit against Apple in Belgium and Spain because of restrictions on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7. They hope to get about 60 million euros in compensation from Apple, which is equivalent to about 60 euros for each iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, and 6S Plus sold in the country.
European Consumer Policy and Executive Director Els Bruggeman (Els Bruggeman) said in a statement: ‘When consumers buy an Apple iPhone, they want the product to be of sustainable quality.
Unfortunately, the iPhone This is not the case with the 6 series.’ ‘Not only have consumers been deceived, suffered setbacks and economic losses, but from an ecological point of view, this is also completely irresponsible.”
Although the United States feels guilty about the iPhone’s secret festival behavior, the European Apple will of course use all legal means to avoid further payments.
‘We have never-and will never-intentionally shorten or improve the life of Apple products. Deteriorating the user experience to encourage customers to upgrade.’ An Apple spokesperson said in an email. Now, the court will decide whether to believe this statement.
