At the beginning of this month, Microsoft released Surface Pro 7+, an upgraded version of Surface Pro 7, furnished with an updated Intel 11th-generation processor, more memory, and specifically the LTE version created in the commercial market.
In the past two years, the new Surface Pro is often released together including the new Surface Laptop, but this year has not been like this. So, when will the next Surface Laptop be available, and what upgrades will it have?
According to the reports, Surface notebook 4 will use Intel’s 11th-generation Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 processors, up to 32GB of memory, and 1TB of solid-state hard drive storage.
Like the Surface Laptop 3, Microsoft will also provide customized ‘Surface Edition’ AMD Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 processors for the new Surface Laptop, but it is unknown whether these customized chips will be based on AMD’s Ryzen 4000 or 5000 series mobile CPUs.
Additionally, Microsoft will provide AMD Ryzen 5 chips in a 13.5-inch model for the first time. Previously, the 13.5-inch model was only furnished with Intel chips, and AMD processors could only be used in the 15-inch version.
Unfortunately, the next-generation Surface Laptop will use the same design as the Surface Laptop 3 and will use the same port, keyboard, and touchpad layout, as well as display resolution and frame size.
The next-generation Surface Laptop will have better Dolby Atmos support and should provide better audio than the Surface Laptop 3. In addition, due to the newer chips, the new products will also have better battery life.
The new Surface notebook will lose the cobalt blue color version and adopt the new ice blue that was first introduced by Surface Laptop Go. It is reported that Ice Blue will replace cobalt blue in all Microsoft products in the future.
The next Surface notebook will be released this spring, in mid-April. Same as the Surface Laptop 3, the 13.5-inch model is priced from 999 US dollars (about 6457 yuan), this time using AMD Ryzen 5 processor, the 15-inch model is priced at 1299 US dollars (about 8396 yuan).
