According to the latest report, Google announced today that its well-known VR painting software Tilt Brush will stop development and has officially opened source.
Tilt Brush was first released on SteamVR in April 2016 and has since been applied to Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality, Valve Index, PlayStation VR, and Oculus VR headsets. The software has won multiple software awards and was well received in “The Tonight Show” hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
The software code that has been open-sourced on GitHub has been slightly modified, but developers can re-add most of its features following the build guide.
Tilt Brush project manager Jon Corralejo said that he is happy to see that the community will use open source code to build content, and he is proud of what Tilt Brush has achieved since its launch five years ago.
