Microsoft Edge getting new feature called ‘mini context menu’, is works in PDF documents

When a user wants to perform a specific operation in Microsoft Edge, it is annoying to have too many items on the context (right-click) menu. And there are at least one or two options on the user’s context menu that the user has never used, especially when the user is reading a PDF document in a browser.

In the Canary version, Microsoft is experimenting with a new feature called ‘mini context menu’ that is basically a simplified version of the Edge browser content menu. As shown in the screenshot below, the mini context menu currently only works in PDF documents, and it will allow users to highlight text or add comments.

Microsoft may also be considering providing mini-context menus elsewhere in Edge. Managing the right-click menu in a browser can be an annoying task, especially when users are unwilling to use third-party extensions.

The mini-context menu can finally reduce clutter and will be introduced to users in the late summer. Additionally, Microsoft is developing a new feature that allows users to quickly switch between multiple profiles when using Edge-based Progressive Web Apps (PWA).

In other words, users will be able to manage different configuration files for web applications, and users do not have to install web applications for all configuration files. The new profile switcher for the Edge web application is only available through test channels, and more users will get the right to use it later this year.

Additionally, to the new profile switcher, Microsoft also confirmed that it is testing the new download manager of the Edge browser to help users manage downloads directly from the toolbar. Microsoft is conducting A/B testing on these features, but users can download the Canary version of Edge to use.
