New patent of Huawei shows battery life extension technology

Huawei has recently registered for a new patent for an advanced charging technology, which was published in China on February 2, 2021, with the publication number CN112310363A. The patent relates to a silicon-carbon composite material and its preparation method as well as a lithium-ion battery.

The patent document indicates that the inclusions of the present invention provide a silicon-carbon composite material that includes a core and a carbon layer coated on the surface of the core. Among them, the inner core includes a graphite skeleton, amorphous carbon-filled in the graphite skeleton structure, and silicon material uniformly distributed in the amorphous carbon.

The silicon-carbon composite material only has a pore structure with a pore diameter less than or equal to 50 nm, and there is no pore structure with a pore diameter greater than 50 nm.

There are small internal pores in the silicon-carbon composite material, which can effectively reduce the contact area between the silicon material and the electrolyte, reduce the occurrence of side reactions, and extend the service life of the battery.

At the same time, the silicon material is uniformly dispersed around the graphite skeleton without agglomeration, so the graphite skeleton can effectively alleviate the volume expansion and contraction of the silicon material, and improve the structural stability and energy density of the composite material.

The content of the present invention also provides a method for preparing a silicon-carbon composite material and a lithium-ion battery containing the silicon-carbon composite material. Although the company will use this technology in its upcoming smartphones, there is still no alternative.
