CDPR hacked and extorted, ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ and other games source code lost

Today, this afternoon, the CDPR official announced through Twitter that they were hacked yesterday and stole ‘Cyberpunk 2077‘, ‘Gunt Card of the Witcher’, and the ‘Witcher 3’ sub-era Source code for remakes, etc.

Along with that, the hacker also left a blackmail letter. The hacker announced that he asked CDPR to contact him within 48 hours and discuss the ransom.

In addition to the source code, the company’s financial accounting, administrative management, investor information, legal affairs, human resources, and other related documents were also stolen by the hackers. In this regard, CDPR stated that the leaked data does not contain any personal information of the user.

At the same time, it also stated that it will not negotiate with hackers and cooperate with relevant agencies and experts on this matter, requesting a full investigation and resolution of the matter as soon as possible.

It is worth noting that as early as 2017 when “Cyberpunk 2077” was not released, CDPR had stated that it was threatened by hacker organizations. If the ransom was not paid, the setting file of “Cyberpunk 2077” would be announced.

However, how can the CDPR bow to the criminals, saying that it will not meet its requirements, and if the documents are published, legal actions will be taken against them. It is understood that when ‘Cyberpunk 2077’was not on sale, the number of pre-orders worldwide exceeded 8 million.

When the game officially went on sale at 8 am on December 10, “Cyberpunk 2077″ was online at the same time on the Steam platform. The number exceeded 1 million, breaking the previous record of single-player game history.

However, while the game received mostly praise, it also encountered many complaints from players. Most of the complaints were game bugs.
