China’s January sales of new energy vehicles 179,000, a year-on-year increase of 238.5 percent

According to the news, it was learned from the China Automobile Manufacturers Association that China’s auto sales in January were 2.503 million, a year-on-year gain of 29.5%.

Passenger car sales in January were 2.045 million units, a year-on-year rise of 26.8%. China’s January sales of new energy vehicles were 179,000, a year-on-year increase of 238.5 percent.

Previous data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed that China’s new energy vehicle sales in December 2020 were 248,000, a year-on-year increase of 49.5%.

Cumulative sales from January to December were 1.367 million, a year-on-year increase of 10.9%. The China Automobile Association estimates that new energy vehicles will sell 1.8 million vehicles in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 40%.

In January this year, the Chinese Passenger Car Association announced the sales data for December 2020 and the whole year. Data shows that the wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 210 thousand in December 2020, an increase of 53.6% year-on-year.

The wholesale sales of pure electric vehicles were 176,000, a year-on-year increase of 45.9%. In 2020, the retail sales of new energy vehicles were 1.109 million, a year-on-year gain of 9.8%.
