Facebook confirmed it will block all vaccine rumors, not just new Covid vaccine
The current global ‘battle’ against the new covid pandemic has entered the vaccination stage, but false information about the new covid vaccine or common vaccines is endless on the Internet.
On Monday, the US social media giant Facebook announced that it would block false information and rumors about the new covid vaccine and non-new covid vaccines.
In this special period of the new covid epidemic, Facebook has previously formulated a list of false health information that is resolutely blocked.
The company confirmed on Monday that it will increase the list and block rumors that vaccines will be added to the content. For example, those vaccines are poisonous, and that vaccine injections will cause autism.
Facebook said in an official blog post that it has expanded the types of rumors that have been blocked, involving the new covid virus, the new covid vaccine, and other vaccines, including ‘the new covid virus is a man-made virus’ and ‘the new covid vaccine is dangerous.’
Prior to this, Facebook had banned these statements from appearing in advertisements. The company announced it will delete groups, pages, and user accounts where these vaccine rumors appear in the future.
During the global new covid pandemic, Facebook has taken strict measures to combat the new covid vaccine rumors, but it has been laissez-faire about other vaccine rumors. These vaccine rumors are rarely deleted unless they are considered to be an immediate risk of health damage.
In December 2020, Facebook announced that it would delete the new covid vaccine rumors that were criticized by public health experts on the platform.
However, recent media reports have shown that the new Covid vaccine rumors remain on Facebook pages, groups, and user accounts of Facebook’s subsidiary Instagram. Facebook also declared that it will provide information to let users know when and where they can get the new covid vaccine.
The company will cooperate with Johns Hopkins University and the American Association of Retired Persons to pass vaccination science information to African American, Latino, and Native American groups as well as Americans over 50 years old, and pay attention to these groups for the new covid vaccine Worries.
