OnePlus presented a patent for a new full-screen solution

The nowhere to put the front camera is a major obstacle in the process of real full-screen mobile phones. Although there are mobile phones including under-screen cameras on the market, they are not yet popular.

Is there any other solution to this problem? OnePlus recently has a patent for a true full-screen solution that has been leaked. The focus is on the processing method of the front camera.

According to the news, OnePlus applied to WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) for a patent on ‘display devices’ in mid-2020. This 23-page document was released on February 4, 2021, to show us OnePlus’s solution to proactive problems.

In this solution, OnePlus has a hole in the frame of the forehead of the mobile phone screen, and the hole is covered with a transparent cover. The front camera is located below it. In this way, the user can see the complete full screen.

As per the OnePlus, the solution is cheaper than punching holes on the screen, and it can also reduce the line of sight interference when users use it. More importantly, it has the advantages of low production cost, high output, and high product reliability.

It is not yet known when OnePlus will apply this technology to smartphone products. Judging from the spy photos currently leaked by OnePlus 9, it seems that it is still a perforated screen. We can only hope that this technology will be matured soon.
