New Xiaomi patent shows lithium battery technology, detects battery bulge

Posted on

Earlier, we have seen a number of Xiaomi’s smartphone patents, including detachable rear cameras, sliding screen displays, pop-up cameras, tri-fold mobile phones, etc. This time, Xiaomi has obtained a patent for a new lithium battery technology.

Battery bugling is not only a sign of battery packaging but also involves safety risks. Meanwhile, this new battery technology is exploring to solve this problem.

According to the report, this patent was invented by Luo Wenhui. However, the Chinese technology giant applied for the patent last month but issued it earlier this week. The title of this new battery patent is “Battery Expansion Prompt Method and Device”.

As the name suggests, this technology will be able to detect and inform users concerning their aging battery and its health. We can also say that to avoid any complications, this technology alert the user on detecting if the battery is bulging.

According to the description, the present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for proposing battery expansion. The device includes a battery section, battery back cover, piezoelectric ceramics and current detection circuit.

At the position facing the battery, the piezoelectric ceramic is placed on the inner side of the battery back cover or the bottom of the battery compartment.

The current detection circuit connected to the piezoelectric ceramic is used to detect the current signal generated by it. When the piezoelectric ceramic produces a current signal, it means that the expansion of the battery exceeds the expansion origin.

Furthermore, the technology will be based on batteries, and it will be able to detect any irregularities in its shape. This technology can even be applied in the industry soon, especially in terms of security.
