Microsoft Windows 10 released emergency update KB5001028: Fixes blue screen of death errors

Previously, Windows 10 computers have been severely disrupted by Microsoft’s January and February round of patches. This time, Microsoft acknowledged these reports and has already started rolling out an urgent update to resolve this error.

Microsoft has confirmed that the last two Windows 10 system updates are causing problems for a small number of devices.’ In a knowledge base support article quietly published on Thursday, Microsoft observed that blue screen of death (BSoD) and other Wi-Fi errors-caused by update patches released in January and February.

Microsoft is now launching an ’emergency’ update for out-of-band data, designed to remedy defects caused by the use of KB4598298 or KB4601315 patches.

The emergency update patch is ‘KB5001028’, it does not carry any other changes. This patch is only possible to affected users, it adds a fix for the blue screen of death error nwifi. sys, which will be encountered when users connect to a WPA3 Wi-Fi network.

Microsoft pointed out that when the device wakes up from sleep or hibernation, the blue screen of death will also occur.

How to obtain Windows 10 update patch KB5001028

To get an emergency patch, Microsoft announced that you need to click the ‘Check for Update’ button, and if your device is affected, you will receive an update.

Fortunately, this issue is limited to a few devices’ and WPA3 environments that mean that most users are not affected.

Additionally, to consumers, affected corporate customers must also install the latest out-of-band data updates through the Microsoft Update Catalog or Windows Update.

In addition to emergency updates, Microsoft has also started to deploy the latest update process, combining SSU and monthly cumulative updates into a ‘single design package.

This change is supposed to improve the reliability of Windows Update in the monthly update cycle.
