Vivo foldable smartphone patent leaked, uses a flexible display and a stylus

Vivo X Fold

Many Chinese producers are supposed to release foldable phones this year, including Xiaomi and OPPO. It is reported that Vivo also has a folding mobile phone under development.

Some time ago, successfully tracked a large number of documents about the Vivo foldable phone that uses a flexible display and a stylus that fold inward. However, Vivo seems to have more foldable models under development.

At the end of August 2020, Vivo Mobile Communications applied for a design patent from CNIPA. The document was launched today. The color rendering of the product shown in the picture above is also from the patent.

As you can see, the entire front of the phone is composed of a screen. On the side, the screen frame is almost invisible. The screen extends from the bottom to the back.

About 1/3 of the back area is composed of the screen area, so you can use this display part to take selfies with the main camera. In this way, there is no need to make a groove or opening on the front of the screen to accommodate the front camera.

Vivo equips this special smartphone with an advanced camera system consisting of 5 camera lenses, including a periscope zoom lens. The camera is integrated into a square camera module and placed in the center of the fuselage.

There is an extended flash on the right side of the camera system. However, this is not an ordinary dual-screen phone. The screen part on the back can be opened, just like a flip phone. Then, add this part of the screen to the front.

This provides users with an extra-long display, comparable to flip phones such as the Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola RAZR 5G.

However, there are obvious differences between the two. By unfolding the flexible screen part, the thickness of the device is no longer the same everywhere. The top part retains its original thickness and contains all the necessary components.

Below is the thinnest part that is not much thicker than the thickness of the flexible display itself. A rectangular button is placed on the top side of this Vivo foldable smartphone. I did not see the volume buttons, and the design of the SIM card compartment seems to be gone.

The volume may be controlled by touch. This Vivo phone may only have wireless charging. In addition, the possibility of only supporting eSIM is not small. We have also seen these designs on the Vivo Apex 2020 concept phone.
