A number of pirated games appeared in Edge expansion store including ‘Mario Kart’

Posted on

Microsoft Edge with Chromium kernel now supports a variety of extended apps and plug-ins.  A number of pirated games recently appeared in the Edge expansion store.

These games include ‘Mario Kart 64’, ‘Super Mario Bros.’, ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2‘, ‘Pac-Man’, ‘Tetris’, ‘Cut the Rope’ and more. Additionally, there is also ‘Minecraft’ owned by Microsoft itself.

The providers of these free games are not game companies, but individuals, which means that the games are pirated.

All the above-pirated games have been removed. In addition to these games, classic mini-games such as ‘2048’, ‘Temple Escape’, ‘Fruit Ninja’ and so on can’t be searched in the expansion store.

The reviews of these games can be traced back to October 2020. This means that Microsoft has not noticed this phenomenon for three months. Many game uploaders try to avoid copyright issues through disclaimers, but these games have all been removed by Microsoft.
